16 Kilometri

10 miles

Sunday Maurizio and I tried to sleep in a little bit since we had woken up early both Friday and Saturday during our overnight getaway. At about 11am we woke up and after some coffee and cheerios we set out for my week five long run training, which was 10 miles. Since Maurizio is so supportive he decided to come along on his bike and carry the water, powerade, and lead me with the map. Even though those 10 miles lasted 1hr. 50mins the scenery couldn’t be beat! I definitely recommend seeing Firenze on foot, whether you walk or run, you just get to see so much more. Those 10 miles took me from my normal comfort zone around the Santa Croce area all around the old city and then outside the old city walls! It was absolutely beautiful! Even though the weather was a bit cloudy and it looked as if rain would roll in at any moment, we couldn’t help but be embraced by all the beautiful gardens and villas we saw along the way.

Although it was a little annoying while I was running, Maurizio brought the camera and took a few pictures of the views along the way.

To catch everyone up on my half marathon registration progress, hopefully after tomorrow I will be all set and registered ready to go April 11th. Mauizio called the officials in charge of the Vivicitta’ half marathon and they told him that in order to participate you had to have a doctors bill of health. So, tomorrow I am headed out to the Scandicci area to get a diagnostics test. This test is the one where they make you run on the treadmill and hook you up to all those wires to track you heart beat and such. I will have to update everyone how that goes tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!
More to come about our trip to Lucca and Collodi!
